Caterfino Scholarship

We are pleased to announce the Caterfino Scholarship Fund. The Caterfino Scholarship is a fund created to provide financial support for an undergraduate student who is involved in Creative Writing workshops and seminars and/or is a member of the extended Kelly Writers House community.

The purpose of the fund is to enable talented young Writers House-affiliated writers to spend more time on developing their writing than they otherwise might be able.

The Caterfino Scholar will receive the award beginning in his/her sophomore year and will continue to receive it for three years until the student has graduated (or as long as he or she continues to be in financial need and remains in good academic standing).

Rising juniors may apply, but preference will be given to rising sophomores (current second-semester freshmen).

Students who consider themselves eligible to apply for this award can do so by writing to whscholarships@writing.upenn.edu

Anyone who is (or expects to be) on financial aid is eligible. Applications should include a cover letter describing the candidate's involvement with the Writers House, a resume, and a writing sample.

The deadline for receipt of appications is March 16, 2008.

Questions about the fund can be directed to whscholarships@writing.upenn.edu.

The Caterfino Scholarship was created by Elissa Shaw Caterfino (College '83) in loving memory of Douglas W. Caterfino (Wharton '83).
