Peer tutors must successfully complete ENGL 135/WRIT 135: Peer Tutor Training. The course is offered every fall and enrollment is by permit only. Upon successful completion of the course, peer tutors earn $12 per hour.

Applicants must have a master's, Ph.D. preferred, and excellent writing and communication skills. Prior work as a tutor or instructor is a plus. Willingness to work with a broad range of students is a must. Senior tutors are retained by semester and are paid a stipend that averages out to $21 per hour.

Job duties include

• providing nondirective writing assistance to Penn students
• attending training sessions and other staff meetings as required
