For Faculty
Submissions Guidelines
Eligibility: Res publishes research writing from all academic fields and disciplines. Authors must be currently enrolled undergraduates at the University of Pennsylvania. Format: All manuscripts should be prepared as follows: pages should be double-spaced, numbered, and printed in 12-point type. Since all manuscripts are reviewed anonymously, the author's name should not appear anywhere on the document (title page, first page, or in the text or footnotes). Manuscripts should not exceed 5,000 words (approximately 20 pages). All submissions must be accompanied by a brief (100-250 word) abstract. Students should use the documentation style most appropriate to their academic field. Notification: All notifications will be made by e-mail to the address on the title page. Manuscripts cannot be returned; no responsibility will be taken for loss. On acceptance, authors will be required to supply a final copy on disk in Microsoft Word format. Multiple and Simultaneous Submissions: Authors may submit no more than two manuscripts per calendar year. Please do not submit work currently under review at other publications. Student Review Board Please help us to identify thoughtful and energetic undergraduates as candidates for our Student Review Board. Members of the Res Student Review Board will gain firsthand knowledge of how the editorial process works at academic journals, as well as a broader sense of the perspectives, methodologies, and debates that make up academic discourse. Nominations can be sent to critwrit@writing.upenn.edu; please include the notation "RES-Student Readers" in the subject line. Critical Writing Program staff will follow up by contacting nominated students, providing them with detailed information about this opportunity. Faculty Review Board Please consider volunteering to be a Faculty Reader for Res, or suggesting other Penn faculty who you feel might make a good addition to our Review Board. Res Faculty Readers will contribute their expertise and experience to the publication process by reading a select number of submissions in the final stages of review. Please contact Valerie Ross, Director of the Critical Writing Program at critwrit@writing.upenn.edu if you should wish to volunteer or to make a suggestion about another faculty member. |
