Writing Tutor Sean Michalson co-authoring chapter in Green Power

Writing tutor Sean Michalson is working as an editor, analyst and contributor for Penn's Lauder Institute readying the book Green Power: Perspectives on Sustainable Electricity Generation for publishing.

For Sean, this has involved extensive content additions to several chapters of the book, especially the third chapter, "Germany's Energy Revolution," which he has come to coauthor. The chapter details the factors driving Germany's Energiewende, or "Energy Switch." With this program, the German government has set the country on the path to generating at least sixty percent of its energy from renewable energy sources by 2050. The focal point of the Energiewende is Germany's bahnbrechendes (pioneering) feed-in tariff system (or Einspeisevergütungssystem, that is a mouthful!).

The chapter concentrates not only on this innovating system, but also on the myriad historical, cultural, social, and economic considerations that have converged to give birth to the revolutionary movement. To learn more about the rich narrative, and about other sustainable energy developments in China, Spain, French Polynesia, and even a futuristic possibility in space, check out a copy of Green Power after its release later this year!
