Lindsey Powell serves as a Penn delegate at the Ivy League Leadership Summit

Lindsey Powell, a student in Rhiannon Maton’s ‘Schooling and Democracy’ Critical Writing Seminar, served as a Penn delegate at the Ivy League Leadership Summit held recently at Yale.

A home-schooled sophomore from Newnan, Ga., Powell was among 28 delegates representing Penn. During the two-day conference, students discussed potential policy changes in the fields of global health, politics, technology, entrepreneurship and education.

The summit dovetailed with Maton’s course, which examines the implications for democracy and public schooling. Maton, a native of the Toronto area, taught high school in Canada and in several U.S. cities before earning her Ph.D. at Penn’s School of Education.
