Speech By the Youngest Female at Born-Again Meeting, Philadelphia

i think i first knew god had answered a prayer of mine
when i was holding my new sick kitten in the crook
of my left elbow and my right hand. the cat had nuzzled
its little self into my palm. when i moved my fingers
over it, it felt like warm, thick air. i prayed to
god,
god, please let my kitten live a long, full life, and
let him be healthy again soon. then, the next thought
in my head, with no go-between of logic or intuition
