Bruce Smith, 19, who is attending summer school at Curtis High School in Statn Island, said he could not remember what he was taught about the day. "They explained it to us but we really didn't pay attention in school, you know how kids get," he said. "I know it means something so I'm going to show respect. It's like going to somebody's funeral, you don't know who they are, but you show respect."
