Bob Kunst on humorous treatments of the Holocaust

Reuters reports from Berlin Film Festival 2/16/99,that Spanish director Fernando Trueba, of "The Girl of Your Dreams", says that he believed that the more than 50 years that had passed since Adolf Hitler ruled Germany, "gave enough distance to address even issues like the Holocaust with a blend of pathos and humor." "The historical subject matter is of course very serious, but we can address these issues now with humour as well because time makes it less risky."

For the last 5 years now, we've been protesting and pleading with all concerned to understand that if the "Death Camps" are allowed to be commercialized, trivialized, revised and desecrated, than the whole Holocaust issue will be undermined ,let alone a betrayal of all who were lost in the Holocaust.

We've been calling for these 'sacred grounds' to be returned to the Jewish community to do the proper respect for all the victims or suffer the denials that it was any big deal which is the crisis today at Auschwitz with over 300 crosses, plus fastfood, banking and postoffice being built there. And if we let them get away with any of this, it will spread to every other camp.

Now the movies want to add 'humour' to the Holocaust.

The longer the Jewish community stays silent the worse it will get.

Please join us for this protest at the Polish Consulate on Thurs., Feb. 25, 1999 at 5:30 P.M. at 37th St. and Madison Ave., NYC.

We'd like to be at the "G-8" Summit in Cologne, Germany, June 18-20, 1999 to present our protest on this matter before thousands of media, as well as the world leaders there.

Please don't abandon us or the 6-7million Jews who can't speak for themselves.
