Fulfills the Writing Requirement

This course will explore the psychology behind the generation and propagation of original ideas. Led by Adam Grant's Originals--an engaging account of the creative process, backed by Grant's own research, the psychological literature, and interviews with original individuals--we will think about how to produce and recognize, and then promote creative ideas. We will consider the possibility of procrastination as a source of creativity. We will reconsider the thinking on groupthink, and reflect on ways leaders can build cultures that encourage non-conformity. Along the way we will study aspects of ourselves, such as the regulation of emotions, that contribute to the successful sharing of our original ideas.
