His egg tempera flipped off his boards like popcorn from the moment it was laid down. Wyeth certainly had as much or more in common with Jackson Pollock and other abstract expressionists as he did with Norman Rockwell. The Philadelphia Museum of Art had a big Wyeth exhibit a few years back. A major theme running through the exhibit was the influence of contemporary abstract artists.
