It&#39;s all a matter of proportion.  I would certainly have expected LW&#39;s work to develop as Snyder&#39;s and Whalen&#39;s did.  It&#39;s interesting how these three linked poets&#39; works are similar, and different.  All three shared a feeling for wilderness, and the stimulation that being outdoors gave them.  A feeling for Eastern culture, philosophy. Unlike Curtis, I didn&#39;t see just &quot;promise&quot; in his work, I saw the fulfillment of that promise, even if Welch himself didn&#39;t.
