A reading is all about sound (a particularly important part of poetry) to the detriment of sense. Poetry, being generally a dense form of writing, is more difficult to follow along. &lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;Not always, tho. I heard Simic read once, and his short poems were fairly easy to follow along, but that&#39;s an exception. The more boring it is, the greater the chance I&#39;ll get more than a stray title or a few lines. I think being in the wash of words (even overused/uninteresting ones) stimulates sentence production in my head.
