The thing needs to move, and Lish&#39;s version moves better.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;Carver&#39;s stories are mindless no matter what you do with them, but they do at least move, after Lish has edited them.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;The best thing that Eliot did was the Cat sequence. Those move, and have a point.
