Year
Today is the anniversary of the start of our housing odyssey. As has now become traditional, it’s possible that tomorrow might see a temporary solution. As possibility after possibility collapsed I’ve thought of sacrificing a chicken as our first-born is now too old and tough. But through the year we’ve been sustained by family and friends… and the kindness of strangers. I’ve listed and thanked before: those continue — but during the last season the “nick of time” cup must go to Clive and Cordelia (and Prosper) Unger-Hamilton; the “winged chariot” medal to Andrew Robinson; the “wave of gratitude” badges to Maggie O’Sullivan, Joel Felix and Nick Davies; the “always open door” bouquet to Herbie Butterfield; the “stepping up” plates to Alex van Someren and Michael Schmidt; and the thanks of us both to Trevor Joyce, Fergal Gaynor, Jimmy Cummins and all those at the SoundEye Festival in Cork for giving us a welcome and needed break. To all to whom I owe emails, books, answers…. eventually. And so we beat on, boats against the current…..
