Rubba Ducky publishes chapbooks, pamphlets and other materials of quality writing in poetry and prose. We make no attempt to represent or identify a scene, circle, or locale, instead choosing to publish works that extend the possibilities for writing in and across the ideolects of 'American English' - works that investigate the shape and condition of the language(s) at play in the formation of the cultural dominant as well as the innumerable micro- and counter-cultures of the United States; & works that challenge the cultural position of the 'avant garde.' We take inspiration from the words of Antonio Gramsci: "It seems evident that, to be precise, one should speak of a struggle for a 'new culture' and not for a 'new art' (in the immediate sense). One must speak of a struggle for a new culture, that is, for a new ethical life that cannot but be intimately connected to a new intuition of life, until it becomes a new way of feeling and seeing reality and, therefore, a world intimately ingrained in 'possible artists' and 'possible works of art.'"
