Shure SM7B
The Shure SM7B is our baseline broadcast microphone, intended to accomodate up to four speakers in interview and podcast applications. It features a relatively flat frequency response which makes it great for both live and recording applications, although the beefier design and more delicate construction mean that these mics should avoid outdoor usage. Though this microphone was intended to be and indeed enjoys its original intended application as a broadcast microphone, rap and metal vocalists are known to covet the SM7B in the studio as well, due to its warm tone and good noise and pop/plosive rejection.
Vitals:
- Dynamic, Cardioid
- Bass roll-off switch, presence boost switch
- Intended for broadcast vocals
- Good for both live and studio applications
- Optional secondary windscreen
- Quieter mic; speakers should maintain close proximity to mic
- Separate configurations for boom vs. stand mount
