Dystopia
Dystopia
is a show whose goal is to bring local music to the radio and at the same
time teach students how to organize and record a radio show.Students
do the booking, mixing, editing, and other management.
As we have progressed, we have decided to make
each episode genre-specific. This
has afforded student organizers the opportunity to do field work in genre-specific
local music; it also helps to bridge between the university and surrounding
communities by encouraging students to go as deep as possible into the music
of a community. We involve community members
in the organizing of the show, and when there isn't a student who wants
to or feels comfortable doing the interview, a community member will often
do the interview. Dystopia
airs on 88.5 XPN five times a year, in December, January, May, June, July,
and August.
