WILLIAM HEYEN
William Heyen's poems have appeared in more than a
hundred periodicals, including The New Yorker, Harper's,
TriQuarterly, Poetry, and American Poetry Review. His
honors include two fellowships from the National Endowment
for the Arts, the John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship
in Poetry, the Eunice Tietjens Memorial Prize from Poetry
magazine, and the Witter Bynner Prize for Poetry from the
American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters. Mr.
Heyen's previous books include Depth of Field, Long
Island Light, Lord Dragonfly, and Erika: Poems of the
Holocaust, fast becoming a classic of its kind. His next
volume of poetry, Pterodactyl Rose: Poems on Ecology,
as well as a second edition of Erika, are forthcoming from
his permanent publisher, Timeless Press of St. Louis,
Missouri. Mr. Heyen is currently Professor of English and
Poet in Residence at the State University of New York
College at Brockport.
