Bio
Sina Queyras is a poet and writer originally from western Canada. She completed a BFA at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver) and an MA at Concordia (Montreal). She has lived on Vancouver Island, and in Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, New Jersey, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, and Calgary where she was the 2007 - 2008 Markin-Flanagan Canadian Writer-in-Residence. Her third collection of poetry, Lemon Hound, received the Pat Lowther Award and a Lambda Literary Award. In 2005 she edited Open Field: 30 Contemporary Canadian Poets, for Persea Books. From 2005-2007 she co-curated the belladonna* reading series in New York. She is contributing editor at Drunken Boat and maintains a blog, Lemon Hound. She has taught creative writing at Haverford College, Rutgers University and is currently in Montreal.
Expressway, forthcoming from Coach House in 2009, echoes the pastoral and elegiac modes of the Romantic poets as it explores the infrastructures and means of modern mobility. Her work is generally concerned with the human project, the tensions between formal and innovative poetries. Her critical writing is concerned with innovative and feminist poetics as well as Canadian poetics.
