Pause at least half a second each time a new
line begins at the left margin, and at least two seconds for
each dot separating lines. Do not pause within a line (not even
at the end of a sentence) or for indented lines.

Use a softer than normal voice for words in
small type and a louder than normal voice for words in capitals.

She worked on for a long time.
|
Hold vowels followed by dashes for up to two
seconds.

something like the Ll in Welsh Lloyd.

The glottal stop is like the tt in the Scottish
pronunciation of bottle. When it follows other consonants
it is pronounced simultaneously with them.

Double consonants are held a bit longer than
single ones, like the double consonants in Italian.

Stress is always on the first syllable except
in words marked with accents.

lengthened sounds, glissandi, and pronunciation of Zuni words
are as indicated in this guide. The tempo follows the stresses
in the words.
