Rob Wilson- Another Tempest
Rob Wilson
Another Tempest
Retreating from the caves of Iraq
Prospero has washed up
upon the shores of Waikiki Beach.
The tired magician orders
all the trillion ocean
tempests
to be turned into suave marinas,
all the million Pacific natives
to curse
and dance upon thick Bibles.
His daughter Miranda
moves with Elvis into
a grass hut in Hanauma Bay
while his lords drink vodka on the volcano
from the skulls of white historians
named Kuykendall and Daws. Months pass,
years. A kind of forgetting reigns in a flag
of blue colors, sky, and no tropes.
