Stark blackandwhite images on the pages and in the poems, consistent hard and well written. Attitude and tough talk, but self-assured enough to let emotion and heart, even vulnerability, show--Pat McKinnon's "My Father Was a Carney Man" just one (fine) example among many. Longer poems get a chance, and a short story.--luigi
