Well-wrought tale about a sixty-year-old man's lugubrious adventures in the company of a prostitute after a night at the local bar. In the process he reels through the post-midnight of his past relationships with women (and of his current dead-on-its-feet one with his companion), as well as into quite comic scenes connected with his having to re-bury one of the customers of his business which is the selling & re-selling of a single cemetery plot. A literate, surrealistically-energized and Winesburg-authentic novella.--Bob Grumman
