Pat McKinnon of POETRY MOTEL once claimed that Bud Bracken was the actually the editor, because Bud hated poetry--if Bud liked a poem, it got into the mag, because there had to be something there that was special. Bud's poetry kicks ass, and you'd never know he hated the stuff by the clean crisp lines in this chap. These are vicious poems, filled with love, hate, and a strange emptiness that makes you want to hide in the shadows even where there are no threats on the street. They tell me poetry is supposed to rearrange the universe and make us look at things in a different light. I don't know what light Bud is using, but it sure as hell is powerful in all its subtleties.--Oberc
