Part fiction, part essay, part autobiography. Heck, it's actually one long philosophical discourse! No, really, it's a story. No action to speak of, minimal dialogue, lots of third-person commentary and observation. And none of that pop psychology junk, either. Real thinking-man stuff spun out over the course of a story which pretty much is background to the thought process.
