- 12 Noon - 2:00PM: Bagel Brunch and Poetry Performance
Workshop. Join us for brunch followed by a workshop on how to perform
your poetry, taught by Actors from the London Stage. Bring your own or
other writers' poems to perform. Actors from the London Stage come to the
House courtesy of the Annenberg Center, where they are performing

- 5:00PM: Poet, painter, composer, and performance artist Jackson MacLow reads at the House.
- 7:00PM: Talking Film. Screenwriters workshop with
Ernie Vecchione. Tonight's workshop, "A Reading/Writing for Actors.
Wednesday, 11/5
and Andrew Levy visit Penn.
2-3PM: Jackson Mac Low will visit with Al Filreis'
"America in the 50's" graduate seminar. MacLow was
an anarchist in the early fifties, and likely will have much to say about
American communism -- the good, the bad, and the ugly. For a broader idea
of literature and politics of the time, look at the

in the 50's, which includes pieces by MacLow.
3:30-4:30 PM: Mac Low will visit Greg Djanikian's undergrad
creative
writing class.
5:00PM: Reading by Andrew Levy.
5:45PM: Philly Talks #2: Poets Jackson Mac Low and
Andrew Levy in conversation, moderated by Louis Cabri.
The Philly Talks newsletter will
be available at least one week prior to the event, containing formal
responses by Levy and
MacLow to each other's work, as well as poems.

alumna Betsy Andrews ('85) will read poetry.

directors who made them. Tonight's guest, Alex Sichel, will lead
a workshop from 4:30PM-6PM.

- 7:30PM: Screening of Sichel's film, All Over Me,
followed by a Q & A session -- International House, 3701 Chestunut
Street. Alex Sichel's visit is co-sponsored by the Lesbian Gay

Screenwriters workshop with 1996 winner of the "Set in Philadelphia"
screenwriting contest, Ernie Vecchione. The workshop will be
followed by a screening of the film Point Blank.
Wednesday, 11/19
- 5:00-7:00PM: Film screening of John M. Coetzee: Passages,
presented by
Rita Barnard, English Professor at Penn. Screening will be followed by
brief paper presentations by undergraduates at Penn who have studied
the novels of South African writer J. M. Coetzee.
- 8:30PM: Full Circle: Cecily Kellogg and Charlie
O'Hay host an open mic reading for Philadelphia poets. Kellogg
and O'Hay have been doing open mic series around Philadelphia for
over a decade. The idea behind Full Circle, is to introduce Penn's
writers to the Philly poetry scene and vice versa. For more information,

Film: All day screenwriting workshop with Penn alumnus Andy
Wolk. Wolk has written scripts for United Artists, MGM,
Miramax, HBO and PBS. He received a Writers Guild Award and in 1996 was
the artistic director for the Sundance Institute.

- 2:00-3:00PM: Reading and talk by poet David Breskin. A former
writer
for Rolling Stone, Esquire and GQ, and a record producer
for John Zorn, Vernon Reid and other musicians, Breskin will read from his
just-published book of poems, Fresh Kills.
