Brave Testimony

The Brave Testimony Reading Series is a collaborative program of Penn's Center for Africana Studies held in celebration of National Poetry Month (April) and featuring poetry of the African Diaspora. The series is reglarly held at and in partnership with Kelly Writers House and, more recently, with the support of The Annenberg School for Communication. It is introduced by Dr. Herman Beavers, Professor of English and Africana Studies, with the exception of the 2017 event at which he was the featured poet.

Some recordings from the inagural series in the Spring of 2001 are not available, however you can visit the Kelly Writers House archival page to learn more about the visitors: Michael S. Harper, Natasha Tretheway, Toi Derricotte, Terrance Hayes, and Tracie Morris
