- 6:30-8:00 PM: A Conversation About The Big Nothing? -- From The Book of Questions by Edmond Jabes -- with Andrew Zitcer and Tom Devaney -- The Kelly Writers House at the ICA
Edmond Jabes is most widely known for a series of seven volumes which comprise The Book of Questions, which he wrote after being expelled from his native Egypt with other Jews during the Suez Crisis. These books examine memory, devotion and loss through the story of a Sarah and Yukel, a couple separated by the Holocaust--and the commentary of scores of imaginary rabbis who serve as 'privileged readers" in these impossible-to-characterize works of literature.
This event is a multimedia exploration and interpretation of Jabes' work, including live readings from the Book of Questions, with new poetry and audio compositions by Andrew Zitcer. ICA Auditorium (Free and open to the public).
