Memorial Reading at Zinc Bar, New York City, June 24, 2007
On June 24, 2007 Jim Berhle hosted a memorial reading at his Zinc Bar reading series dedicated to the life of the truly
radical and compassionate poet, artist, gender activist, mentor and friend kari edwards (1954-2006). kari's partner Fran Blau
gave a moving account of kari's life, followed by poets who read poems, collaborations, and essays written and/or inspired by
hir. Litmus Press and Belladonna offered commemorative broadsides in kari's honor, copies of kari's books were for sale, as
well as the journal Aufgabe #6, which is dedicated to hir. All proceeds went to the kari edwards scholarship fund at
Naropa University. Rachel Levitsky emceed and Austin Publicover recorded the event.
