Bio
Elizabeth Willis is the author of Liontaming in America (New Directions, 2024), which was longlisted
for the National Book Award. Her previous collection Alive: New and Selected Poems
(New York Review Books, 2014)) was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. Other books of poetry
include Address (Wesleyan, 2011), recipient of the PEN New England
prize for poetry; Meteoric Flowers (Wesleyan University Press, 2008);
Turneresque (Burning Deck, 2004) The Human Abstract
(Penguin, 1994); Second Law (Avenue B, 1993); and Spectral Evidence
(Litmus Press, 2023), an artist’s book with Nancy Bowen. Willis is the recipient of a Guggenheim
Fellowship, a Howard Foundation Fellowship, and a Lannan Foundation residency. She also edited
the volume Radical Vernacular: Lorine Niedecker and the Poetics of Place
(Iowa, 2008). She teaches at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop.
